You shouldn't bother too much about the bi-annual EU check in this case. What should bother you is that if your car is involved in an accident and the engine output was way over original specs, your insurance company will demand all their payouts to be covered by you. That could be millions of Norwegian Kroner... :|

I hope someone from the board can help you build the car street legal, upgrading all necessary parts. Good luck!

Put the old engine in or borrow one and get it approved by the Biltilsyn with a V8. After you send a quote to Biltilsynet to get it registered/ approved with a low comp smog 400/455 engine.
Or run the engine you got it approved with. They can only count 6 or 8 spark plugs...

It's not uncommon to put larger engines in cars that never came with engines that big, for instance Classic Chevys with 502 engines. And somehow, they seem to get approved. This also applies to cars newer than 1970, like a certain Mr. Polly and his Pontiac.

Based solely on reading magazines and online forums like this, and not from actual experience, my suggestion is that you get the documentation from Amcar that the car model you have were available from the factory with the 305 V8.
I believe the 305 is a Chevrolet engine, and not a Pontiac engine. Amcar should be able to document this for you if it's correct.
Also get documentation for a new and bigger engine with the same external dimensions as the 305 V8, like a Chevy 400 V8.
You should be able to document that the engine you want to install is not significantly heavier than the factory V8.

Be open and square with the Biltilsyn, tell them about your plans of installing a small block 400 V8 in a car that were available with a small block V8 from the factory. If the person you're talking to isn't an evil cock, he should be able to tell you what they want from you in order to approve of this build. You're not planning on doing something radical here, so there should be hope for getting your engine swap approved by the Biltilsyn.

Obviously, you'll want to have more power, and more power means you need stronger stopping power, which is bigger and better brakes than what a lighter V6 equipped car came with. The Biltilsyn guy is likely to be happy to hear that you have thought about this. Also, there's the suspension to consider. Since your vognkort states V6, it's likely to have a lighter duty suspension, which would need to be upgraded too.
Speak to the Biltilsyn about what they want to have improved.

When you know what you have to do, I suggest to do some cost calculation and consider if selling the car and get another car already with the engine you want to have might be better for you.

Hot Chevy small blocks are readily available, and ïf you're set on having a 400 V8, and have no issues with going from one Chevy engine to another Chevy engine, you can get a Chevy 400 V8. It was made from 1970 to 1981, and you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a brand new Chevy small block crate engine in various sizes.

Finally, what Challenger says about having a different engine in your car than what it says in your vognkort is something you absolutely should worry about. You could easily be anal raped financially if you're in an accident with a bigger engine, in terms of both physical size and power, than what's stated in your vognkort.
