Hello Everyone

My name is Frank Johnson. I live 1/2 the year in Aalesund and I am married to a Norwegian girl.
I have started to import cars and parts to Norway from America and would like some suggestions
on our next shipment. I will be sending a container from Newark NJ to Aalesund the middle of next
month we have one customer ca (1965 sl230 MB) and some parts. I plan on buying 2 other cars for resale. Is
there any recommendations on what cars to send taking into consideration that winter is cumming.
I have a 1979 corvette in nice condition (dark green t tops 350/350 motor and trans)
I'm also looking at a 1979 Jeep CJ5 with a hard top.

This is not a solicitation I just want the opinion of the guys that would know whats hot.

My website is http://www.AmCarOne.com I'm just starting to build the site.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

MvH

Frank

This one would be about 80-90000

Its a nice car good paint and strong clean motor.

I figured because of the price range it would not take long to sell

Thanks for the opinion and that is the reason I'm hesitant about sending it.

Frank

It seems like the market for older american cars are ice cold at the moment. I'm not sure what moves these days. Hell, even nice 65-66 Impalas are not popular. Seems there is little money to play with. A lot of people will just trade, not interested in spending money. Maybe it's very hard to get finance for the average Joe?

I think it must be a nice original rust free muscle car or a cheap 30-40's coupe. I have a couple of MoPars for sale, but very little interest. A friend have the same problem, just sold a 65 Caprice and a 58 GMC truck, both in very nice original condition. It took a loong time before anybody put up any money on the table. Maybe the hay-days are over? Just look at Finn. There is tons of old cars around 80-90 and up to 200, and that there is not that many people buying in that range.

I think the key is to find specific cars for customers that are looking for their dream car.

Start looking for parts instead!
At the moment the economy is at an alltime low, and we tend to keep our cars longer, and spend more money on upgrading.
And when you know, that an LS engine sells for 45-65.000 NOK and you can buy them for less than 2500$ with ECM and wiring in the states.
Well, I know what I would do,
transmissionss, rearends, chrome, hard to find parts, interior. parts. front end upgrades. You name it.

But as long as they are cheap, and older than 1982, you can bring in what you want!

But that's just my 2 cents.

Welcome to the forum by the way! hehehe

Everything is very slow to sell. As mentioned its trades, trades, trades.Seems the people that like this cars already have one or two or ten.
The Jeep would have to be pretty stock to get past inspection, any lifting is usualy not axepted.

hey
why import car to Norway, when you can import into the EU. When you pay vat to the EU you can sell in all EU countries, import to Norway, you can only sell to Norway.
Germany has a huge amcar environment and there are many wealthy people, 82 million in germany and only 5 milion in Norway. if you import clasic cars to Nederland you only pay 19% vat and you can sell in EU. when you import cars to Norway you pay 25% and only sell to Norway.

but of course much easier to fixe the car when it is at home, and not in germany, but marked is not good in Norway.

If you get an LS-engine for 2500$ it is either a high-milage or an ironblock (truck engine).

It's no way you can sell this in Norway for 45-65000 NOK. For that kind of prices you get a new hi-preformance LSX.
Look to www.minges.no for prices on used engines

And dont forget that cars post 1971 have to be original.

That only applies to cars imported under "30 års-regelen", all other post 71 vehicles can be modified to the same extent as pre 71 vehicles.

I getting a little bit off-topic. But as i understand this, you have to get hold of a lot of documents if the post 71' car is modified.

Sorry, but this link does not work with google-translate. :)

some pre-ordered mustang parts for customers
a 1965 SL230 for a customer
and 2 interior kits for 65-66 and 67-68 mustangs
along with other parts for 1965-73 mustangs I've collected

I have a quick question.

I have a chance to get a 1972 Maverick Grabber 302 4 speed for a very good deal in trade. Do you guys think there is any market at all for the car. No rust Numbers matching new paint. Just wanted to know if its worth sending instead one of the 2 jeeps i was planning on.

Bilde

Price would be about 55000-65000 in country taxed, tagged and eu approved.

Think he means just registered on plates. No need for EU approval upon import, 1st EU approval control is still scheduled 2yrs after registration.

Sounds like a very good price for any car rust free with new paint and matching numbers. :) But if the timing is right, think it might be easier to import cars in spring, when folks wanna get out on the road... :)

I cant think of a reason why not. it is a stock 1972 Maverick Grabber even has the original motor. As long as it is not modified there should be no issue. Unless you know something i don't. I sent a 72 Torino GT 2 years ago and got it approved.
